I am against the government creating any health care plan. I can see them working with regulations to create more competition, but I cannot support any government plan.
he could start by calling it the “government” option and not the “public” one. any plan that is a government plan i am against. let’s maintain health care in the private sector. let’s start by ending government encroachment and restoring the ability to buy insurance across state lines
I’m just hoping that a great many of the people who have chosen to believe the lies and the deliberate misinformation spread by the idiot fringe will watch this address and learn the truth. Although some of them are so far gone that now they just dismiss the truth out of hand in favor of the hysteric’s claims.
No. I don’t even care what the plan is about. The behavior of the Republicans has made me want to support it no matter what.
Anyone who uses Hitler, a man responsible for 75 million deaths, to casually criticize our president is not a patriot, no matter their party, and they no longer deserve my consideration.
I know my healthcare is expensive but good. I dont know what the hellsbells “Healthcare Reform” is. I know I am tired of paying other peoples way through this country and if my taxes get increased and I am not happy with my future healthcare plan I will be a pissed. And I am an Afr-American, educated woman.
I just need him to go into details what “Healthcare Reform” is.
It makes sense on every level and the big corporations have the most to loose. We could never raise the money to fight the big money and they are generating the media to support opposition to a plan to a health care system. I am for it.
Top 10 reasons to OPPOSE government take-OVER and driving the USA faster into bankruptcy is their Medicare HMO that CMS has been running since LBJ! Medicare will be bankrupt in 5 years so why would we want them running the entire Healthcare system?
Ever see that Hoveround commercial and how the company ceo ends it with “little or NO COST TO YOU”???? Medicare will buy it at no cost to you! Fact: seniors are taking advantage of it and taking the rest of us to the Cleaners…….I know this since my wife has been in medicine for nearlly 30 yrs now as a PT, and I recently asked her about elderly people and POWER wheelchairs like the Howeround. She said at least 30% of them already have one when they are admitted to the Rehab hospital where she works. Why the #### are we giving Viagra to elderly people? Why are we buying DTV boxes for them? WHY?WHY? IF THEY WANT SOMETHING, THEN THEY SHOULD BUY IT! IF they NEED SOMETHING and CAN’T BUY IT, THEN WE SHOULD BUY IT. You want a Hoveround? Then YOU BUY IT! We will buy you a 2nd hand chair made of pipes and 2 wheels.
Solution:
To decrease Healthcare COSTS nationwide, WE MUST DECREASE THE DEMAND! To decrease the demand, WE MUST MAKE PEOPLE USE THEIR OWN MONEY to buy stuff like Viagra, Howerounds, etc.. Make them PAY for doctor visits out of pocket!
We have to STOP people from using Healthcare since it is KILLING THEM SOONER ANYWAY!
You are either for government control or you are against it. I think any rational person that wants to keep their freedoms and their secrets cannot wish for this bill. Do you want every government employee to know everything about you?
The next step will be the micro-chip embedded in your back.
There’s no way to explain that plan and makes sense for a rational person. It’s mathematically impossible.
The basics of socialism is control of the resources, not the use of them. And the problem is that there’s an inconsistency between the resources (production) and the social goals that (allegedly) are going to be achieved. Resources are limited by definition, no matter how hard you work, while social goals are unlimited. Health, wealth, education, culture, are ethereal concepts that can’t be measured and evaluated objectively.
Now you have a project with limited resources and unlimited goals, how can you succeed? You can’t. I don’t have to explain that in detail, it would take a book bigger than the bible. Just take a look back, check the last governments a hundred years back. If you evaluate them in terms of their OWN goals, they were all failures. People is poorer and with worse health, jobs went down the drain, production outsourced elsewhere, education is awful, technological evolution stopped. The reason why the system works for them is the control of resources.
I’ll give you one example. When the last crisis stopped the economy, the wonderful Obama’s plan was to put money in the market so it can start moving again. Money means resources or fake money, money with no backing (pretty much every dollar you have in your pocket). If the money is real, it has to be taken from the market. Because the market is the only one producing wealth, governments produce squat. If the money is fake, printed by the government just because “it’s needed”, it only dilutes the real money that’s already in the market. One way or the other, whatever real resources are put into the market, they have to be taken from the market. And that’s a stupid idea if we assume that the government do that so efficiently that there’s no loss at all. Every little bit of resource taken from the market is put back in. But we know that’s not realistic, the government takes a huge chunk to pay for it’s humongous (non productive) structure.
Health care is the same. It’s going to take resources from the market and apply them based on government decisions. One thing that’s important to understand is that markets progress when they’re free. And the reason for that is diversity, offer diversity and demand diversity. That’s what guarantees quality, price and innovation because they’re choices. People has to work hard in the market to stay on top. With a government regulated health care market, prices are set. There’s no incentive to get into that market, those already in settle for the price or walk away. Those who stay have no incentive to increase quality and most likely are going to lower it to get a bigger slice of profit. Innovations won’t show up because there’s no incentive when there’s only one buyer, unless you have a preset agreement with him. Dealing with the government means a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy, getting pay for services is extremely complicated and not based on your performance but on government formal requirements. Individuals and small providers are going to see their costs skyrocketing to keep up with all that. On the other hand, big corporations are more likely to deal with it by distributing the cost over a large operation and growing to sizes that give them the power to access higher levels in the health care government management. The small providers are going to fade away going out of the market or going to fill positions in the big corporations. Your health care is going from a human professional to a inhuman corporation. Even worse, from thousands of human professionals to a limited number of inhuman corporations. Your choices are going to be very limited, they are limited now.
It’s not about Obama’s plan. No government xxxx plan is a good idea.
I doubt those who are against it will listen to reason considering the numerous lies about reform that are being spread here.
I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the issues with healthcare relying on FOX and other sources to spread misinformation about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad.
First of all, Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it is cheaper. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Holland and Switzerland where private companies are involved in providing insurance.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
Third, Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.
Many do not agree with my arguments, but I can back mine up. Those against them can not. If I am wrong on this, let me know. Last of all if you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012.

If he tries to sell us on the house version again then he won’t change anyone’s mind.

What he says doesn’t matter. Not unless he actually pulls out a health care bill and explains in detail what it will legally do.

Not at all. No Government run health care.

It won’t change my mind. I don’t want the government to have any more control than they have now. In fact I want them to have less control.
